Capabilities
Four practices, held in one field.
Listed separately for clarity. Practiced together, because an Enigma does not respect the org chart.

01
Software development
Systems that have to be correct when the specification is still moving.
We write software for environments where failure is expensive and the operating conditions are only partially known. Control planes, simulation, data paths, and the long-lived infrastructure that other systems sit on.
The work is conservative in its interfaces and ambitious in its internals. Public contracts stay small. Internals are allowed to change as the Enigma clarifies. This is not a preference for elegance. It is how unfinished problems are kept from becoming unfinished products.

02
Hardware development
Physical systems held to the same standard as the code that drives them.
Hardware is not a later stage. It is present from the first framing of the problem: what must occupy space, what must be sensed, what must dissipate, what must last. We design and integrate physical systems as part of the same field as the software.
The aesthetic is incidental. Surfaces are quiet because leftover decisions are expensive in metal. When a part is finished, it should not advertise the number of revisions it took to get there.

03
Kristoffer
A proprietary intelligence system. An instrument, not a product.
Kristoffer is developed for internal use. It is how we reason about Enigmas that exceed conventional tooling — problems where the search space is large, the evidence is uneven, and the method has to be invented alongside the answer.
We do not license Kristoffer. We do not offer it as a platform, an API, or a feature. Clients encounter it only as a quality of the work: the questions that get asked, the paths that get discarded, the systems that result.

04
Advanced interfaces
The surface through which a serious system is understood and operated.
An interface is not decoration on a finished machine. It is part of the machine. Operators, researchers, and the system itself meet there. We design those surfaces as engineering work: hierarchy, latency, failure states, the minimum that must be visible.
Client-facing interface commissions that do not require a research program are handled by our subsidiary. The parent company keeps the interfaces that belong to Enigmas.

Wise Guides is the subsidiary for commissioned UX. The parent company remains focused on Enigmas.
